For treatment of ankylosing spondylitis, the following therapy forms are available:

Electrotherapy
Electrotherapy is used as an adjuvant therapy in the context of physiotherapy and is enshrined in the AWMF-S3 guideline "Axial spondyloarthritis, including Bechterew's disease and early forms" as a therapy option. It is carried out with the aim of achieving improvements in the areas of posture and function.
Ultrasound is used with the aim of tonus reduction of reflex-tensioned musculature near the spine, pain reduction, stimulation of perfusion, as well as influencing of associated nerve root irritation symptoms.
